Visionary Clown & Circus Fundamentals

with Carolina Duncan

Sat, March 1 / 10 AM - 5 PM
$175

PART I: VISIONARY CLOWN (3 Hours)

Where inner experience becomes shared meaning through ritual, movement, and play.

What if clown isn’t something you perform… but something you enter?

Visionary Clown is an embodied, contemporary approach to clowning in which play becomes a doorway to presence, imagination, and the quiet intelligence of your body. It blends movement, ritual, storytelling, and physical comedy with the language of dreams, symbolism, and inner journeys. You’ll explore how a feeling becomes a gesture, how an image becomes an action, how a small “mistake” becomes a moment of truth.

Visionary Clown arrives at the Church of Clown in the space between the sacred and the silly, welcoming tenderness, surprise, failure, recovery, and real connection. This workshop lives in that spirit.

This is a soft container for beginners:

  • no pressure to perform

  • no forced sharing

  • no “be funny” requirements

  • just curiosity, listening, and permission to be human

Together we move through a ritual arc—Arrival → Opening → Exploration → Discovery → Integration → Return—using simple writing prompts, elemental movement exploration, and gentle improvisation. White face paint is optional, offered as a threshold tool (not costume), so you can feel what shifts when you cross into clown attention.

You’ll leave with:

  • a lived experience of Visionary Clown

  • tools for embodied storytelling + improvisation

  • a sense of safety, curiosity, and play

  • worksheets you can return to (like a small ritual kit)

Come as you are. Bring a notebook. Wear clothes you can move in.
Let the ritual open. Let the clown transform.

PART II: Circus FUNdamental & Play (3 hours)

A playful and accessible circus lab where skills support presence, confidence, and authentic expression.

We’ll work with:

  • Juggling props: spinning plates, bean bags, scarves, clubs

  • Flow tools: flower sticks

  • Acrobatics: basics + partner awareness

Taught with curiosity, patience, and adaptable progressions—supporting coordination, rhythm, courage, and embodied play.

Who It’s For

Clowns, performers, artists, movers, educators, facilitators, and curious humans.
No experience needed. Come as you are.

What to Bring

Comfortable movement clothes • Water bottle • Pen + paper • Willingness to play
